Both Mariel and I were very much into the Ninoy movement being in our collegiate days at that time. I participated in many rallies supporting the cause of Ninoy and of so many nationalistic Filipinos. When Ninoy was murdered and Cory was thrust to the limelight, we continued on mesmerized by the charisma of this housewife who has taken on the cudgels for her husband’s cause. She was a great icon of the democracy a lot of Filipinos were just craving for back then. We joined millions of Filipinos in Edsa led by this housewife we’ve come to love and deeply respect.
Tita Cory exemplified what a great Filipino and person must be. She was meek but in her meekness her strength shines forth. She fears and loves God and believes whole-heartedly in his power and sovereignty. She is a loving mother looking after the best interests of her children. If only we could be half as committed as her, this world will be a better place to live in.
In her memory, we will be running tomorrow, Aug 5, at BHS, 6:30am donning our iamninoy yellow shirts as we join the members of the iamninnoy runners group and other runners in this tribute.
We mourn the loss of a great woman. Rest in peace Tita Cory.
it s*cks when you’re sick and even more when you miss out on something this special. HAY talaga… pero as jay said last night, better to give a week or two for time to rest and let the illness fade than to be sidelined even longer due to relapse or a worsened health. hay! hope you guys had a good run. sarap pa naman umulan sa ulan! waaaahhhhhh!
Vimz, jay’s right, you need to rest. We missed you earlier. Yeah, it was definitely a good soaking, dripping wet run. We finished an easy 10k. Get well soon!
*tumakbo sa ulan* pala… hehe.. hindi pa talaga ako ok..
glad you guys had a great run… see you soon! 😉
hahaha okay lang yun vimz. we know naman di ka pa talaga okay. yeah, see you soon! 🙂
Thanks for running for Auntie Cory. Thanks also for all your prayers and support. I was really moved by the iamninoy runners tribute runs. Saw some of our members marching with the convoy. Very touching as well.
