Hi, I’m Jun or JunC to a lot of my running friends.  I do freelance consultancy work in business process but my love for sports has always been there.  When I was still in my school years I did some swimming, basketball, biking, tennis, tables tennis, softball and sometimes did occasional runs.  I loved doing all of them but it was just seasonal for me until i did my run at the oval last December 2007.   I started 5 rounds and then 6, 8 and so on.  I added 1 round each day that I ran.  The rounds added up until I realized it wasn’t enough and i want more.  So I decided to run outside.  From then on,  I became hooked and I’m enjoying every minute of it.

After a day’s run I would often tell  my wife, Mariel, about it who couldn’t seem to fathom the depth of my love for running.  She couldn’t seem to comprehend how I could wake up and leave the house before daybreak, rain or shine, to either train or run a race.  I think she was somehow amazed how i could remember facts, other runners’ life changing stories, recaps about running with such emotion.  I guess she thought to herself, “what is he talking about?”… All that changed when in February 2009, she went to the gym to work out and tried the treadmill for the first time.  Well,  I’ll let her tell you her story….

Pink Sole

Mariel (The Pink Sole)

Life begins at 40. 40 is the new 30.  I’m embracing these!

I ‘m Mariel and I’m in  my early forties,  juggling raising a family, managing a household,  maintaining a career in the food industry and developing a now blossoming passion for running. In late Feb 2009, I went to the gym and walked-ran-walked on the treadmill for 30 minutes which started off my training for the 5K Condura Race I bravely signed up for.  Amazingly, it  felt good working my heart out.  Thus, began my love affair with the treadmill and running.  After almost 2 months doing regular runs,  first on the treadmill, then on the oval and just recently outdoors, I can say I definitely love it!

We are blessed with 3 beautiful daughters Bea, 14, Sofia, 9, Mikka, 5. cruz fave picThis mutual love for running is just another blessing we are adding to our list.  We want to share it with friends by creating this blog. We want to be an inspiration to other couples who want to run or do something together.  We want to be able to impart that  running need not be a disaster but an adventure.  It need not be burden but a gift.

We will be writing together about our running adventures and misadventures — our road runs, oval runs, easy runs, long runs, happy runs, sad runs, asarruns, kwentoruns, sale overruns,  even walang katutu runs.  You’ll read all about them here.

We are soul mates destined by the Almighty and we are sole mates destined to hit the road and pursue our passion for running.  Come join us in this adventure … 🙂

    Good day solemates(:

This is Haze from the Use Less Earth advocacy. We’re about to launch Local Lunes, a carbon-diet campaign that challenges Filipinos to purchase and use only locally made, green goods and services on Mondays.

I stumbled upon your page and found you guys to be seasoned and very passionate about running and decided to take the courage to ask if you guys could perhaps suggest functional running accessories that can be printed on with green advocacy statements. These will be used as promotions for the cause.

Anything that ca be sewn and screen printed is preferred since these will be made by our beneficiary out of school youth from a GK village in Payatas. (:

Let me know Sir Jun and Ms Mariel,Id love to hear your inputs.

Dear Sir Jun and Ms. Mariel,

    Good day!

We at the Knowledge Channel will be a holding a series of running events to generate awareness and support for the cause of Philippine education, particularly in bridging the continuous resource and learning gaps present in our educational system.

Our campaign is called “KaRUNungan 2010: Run for Knowledge”, and funds we will raise from these races will go to developing more educational programs in English, Science and Math. The programs will be taught by expert teachers, and their aim is to help public school students improve their mastery level in these three subjects.

Because we are a foundation (and do not have as much resources to market our running events), we wondering if you would be willing to give some of your blog space to help us spread the word about our race/s. We will really appreciate all the help we could get in letting people know about our campaign. 🙂

So far, Ms. Jaymie Pizarro and Coach Rio have agreed to be our lead supporters, but of course, we would like to reach as many people as possible. And this is why we would like to invite you to help us in our KaRUNungan 2010 campaign.

Thank you very much, and hoping for your consideration!
